Rev.
Doug Robinson-Johnson
Our Pastor
Pastor Doug was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in
south Louisiana. He is a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana
(B.A. 1992) and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston,
Illinois (Master of Divinity 1995). While in seminary, Doug’s
ministry experiences included serving as Assistant to the Chaplain
at Northwestern University, A Christian Ministry in the National
Park in Yellowstone, and Student Chaplain position at St. Luke’s
Hospital in Houston, Texas. Pastors Doug and Erica have been married
since 1993, and they have a young son, Evan.
Prior to the Robinson-Johnsons’ move to New England, Pastor
Doug served a two-point charge in rural Illinois – Manhattan
and Green Garden United Methodist Churches; and Holy Covenant United
Methodist Church of Chicago, just down the street from famed Wrigley
Field, a church with an epic history of engagement for social justice
and modern worship. “Exerting a bit of their own will,”
Doug says, the Robinson-Johnsons sought entry into the New England
Conference in order for their son Evan, born in 1999, to be closer
to his grandparents who lived part-time in Maine. Since 2004, they
have been leading an experimental merger of four congregations in
Lynn, Massachusetts, offering three distinct worship services: SNL
– a youth-led “emergent” service; Family –
a worship service suited for toddlers through teens and their caregivers;
and a traditional service.
